Fáilte

I am Fiona Solenne Howell, born of pop, indie, dance, blues and soul, trained in classical, now gone rogue. I've gone way back to the music of my ancestors – Celtic traditional music. I am of Breton, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh descent and as surely as it haunts my looks, it has inspired my music. I play Irish flute and whistles and I sing, mostly in Irish but, on a whim, an occasional bit in English, too.

I've made two solo CDs, Crossing the Sea, and my newest one Beyond the Green Fields with the help of some very fine friends; another CD, The Tide Full In, with my awesome fresh trad band Cróga; and a CD with my tight-as-your-favorite pub seissún band, The White Mountain Céilí Band.

I play live as often as I can with my recording colleagues so affectionately mentioned above, as well as with The Trad Gang out of Maine, a motley crew with an accordion; Guinness Mist in New Orleans, an ever-shifting crowd of cronies for the history books; and joining in live sessions in Portland, ME; Bristol, NH; Bangor, ME; Burlington, VT; or at McIntyre's in Dunkineely, Donegal. During this pandemic live sessions are not on the horizon as yet but you can always find me on my YouTube Channel or on my Facebook page with my Quarantunes.
